David Wood is Executive Director, Technical Policy and Practice Support, at ICAS (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland).  He is responsible for all ICAS’ technical and representational work in the fields of accounting, auditing, company law, tax, pensions, charities, ethics, sustainability and public sector accountability and audit.  In particular he is responsible for the reactive work and proactive initiatives in these areas, and the establishment of the broad strategic themes and policy positions.  He is also responsible for the Practice Support department, which provides products and services to members and for commercial purposes.

David was born in 1961 and studied at St Catherine's College, Cambridge University, gaining a BA(Hons) in Mathematics in 1983 and an MA in 1986.

David is a Chartered Accountant, having been a member of the ICAEW for 29 years, and an ICAS member for 21 years.

David originally worked for Ernst & Young in England and New Zealand, and joined the ICAS technical team in 1993.  He was appointed Executive Director in December 2004.
