The consultation on the draft Natural Capital Protocol was launched at this year's World Forum on Natural Capital, and will run until 26 February 2016.
This hugely important development marks a real milestone since 2013 and we hope that as many businesses as possible will feed into the consultation process.
Led by the Natural Capital Coalition, working with WBCSD, IUCN, Trucost and others, the draft Protocol and Sector Guides have been developed as a standardised framework for businesses to measure and value their impacts and dependencies on natural capital, and to help them integrate this into their decision making. A wide range of people have contributed to the creation of the open-source draft Protocol and Sector Guides, making the launch a practical step in the direction towards achieving a global business community committed to valuing and safeguarding natural capital.
The consultation will run until 26 February 2016 and will be followed by several months of further development prior to the launch of Version 1 in July 2016.
