Yuvan A. Beejadhur is a Partnership Specialist at the World Bank Group. He leads the global engagement on Natural Capital Accounting (NCA) and the valuation of ecosystem services. His portfolio includes sustainable development, UN relations and the Post-2015 development agenda. Former to this position, he managed the relationship between the World Bank and the UN at large and has helped set up a number of global partnerships such as the Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL), the Global Partnership for Oceans (GPO), 50:50 Initiative on Natural Capital Accounting, etc.

Mr. Beejadhur is educated in international affairs, public administration and negotiations at the American University in Paris, the Sorbonne and Kennedy School of Government at Harvard. His research interests include the reform of international institutions, climate change and energy policy, leadership, negotiations and political affairs.

Prior to joining the World Bank, Mr. Beejadhur was an economist at the UN. He was also Special Assistant to a former UN Under-Secretary General for Political Affairs, and former Director General of the UN Offices in Geneva. Beejadhur worked also as a Research and Program Officer at the ILO, Consultant at ITC and advised a number of Governments on multilateral trade issues. He has also been an Associate Professor in Geneva, where he co-taught courses such as “The UN: Renaissance or Reforms?”, with the Ambassador of Norway to the US.

A national of Mauritius, Beejadhur speaks English, French, Creole and Hindi. His hobbies include photography, the fusion of world music, Indian sculptures, martial arts and biographies of key religious and political figures.
