Nigel is Executive Director at CDP, a global NGO transforming the global business system through the power of information.  CDP works on behalf of 722 institutional investors, representing assets under management of over $87 trillion, to engage with over 10 000 of the world’s largest corporations on the business implications of climate change and water scarcity. Nigel has been the principle architect of CDP’s ambitious program of innovation which has recently included new programs in Supply Chain, Water disclosure and Cities and is now looking to broader natural capital issues.  Nigel is responsible for CDP’s technical roadmap and IT systems, including major partnerships with Accenture, SAP, Microsoft and Bloomberg.  He also acts as CDP’s representative on the Climate Disclosure Standards Board, Sustainability Accounting Standards Board and the Climate Bonds Standards Board and sits on the external sustainability advisory boards of SAP and P+G.
 
Prior to joining CDP, Nigel spent 18 years in the manufacturing sector, most recently as a member of the MBO team and Senior Vice President of Supply Chain for a global automotive component manufacturing company.
 
Nigel has extensive international experience, having worked in Spain, the USA, Germany and the UK at various times in his career. He also has significant experience in emerging markets, having led projects in Brazil, India and China.
 
Nigel obtained his undergraduate degree in Mathematics from Cambridge University where he also won two rugby Blues and his MSc in Holistic Science from Schumacher College.  He has spent a lot of time on ice caps on several scientific and mountaineering expeditions to Iceland, Greenland and Patagonia and plans to sail the Northwest Passage connecting Greenland to Alaska in the summer of 2014.
