Nelmara Arbex is the Chief Advisor for Innovation in Reporting of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) since last October 1^st.  Since 2010 she was the Deputy Chief Executive at GRI leading the Guidance, Support and Innovation area at GRI, supervising the development of the internationally recognized GRI Sustainability Reporting Framework – particularly the development of the new generation of the GRI Reporting Guidelines - G4. She also led the GRI Learning and Coaching Programs and the Reports Services area. These activities involve a global network present in more than 30 countries.

Previously Nelmara started the Corporate Responsibility area at Natura Cosmetics, Brazil, where she developed and implemented the company's management system for corporate responsibility, implemented national social and environmental campaigns, and was responsible for the company’s internal sustainability education program for managers and executives.

Before Natura, Nelmara was the head of the Knowledge Management and International Relations area at Ethos Institute and was also an associated consultant at McKinsey & Co in Brazil.

In the last decade she has developed and co-authored several articles and publications in the sustainability and business field. She is currently author of the Portuguese sustainability website and blog "Sustentabilidade com Pimenta".

Nelmara holds a PhD in Theoretical Physics from Marburg University, Germany (1997).
