Mark Stokes

Managing Director, Utilyx Asset Management

As Managing Director of the Asset Management business, Mark has helped to shape and direct an industry-leading ESCo (Energy Services Company), providing energy-performance contracts for both public and private sector clients in the emerging decentralised energy sector. For the last six years, Mark has been at the heart of MITIE’s decentralised energy offering, which provides investment in, and development of, on-site energy centres and other assets. Mark’s strategic insight and operational excellence have helped to develop the business into a market leader.

Mark is a passionate advocate and driver of the triple bottom line strategy which uses economic, ecological and social metrics for measuring organisational success - the key benefits provided by our decentralised energy and energy-efficiency strategies. He also leads our innovative Environmental Profit and Loss (EP&L) reporting on our current and emerging decentralised energy asset class.

Mark joined MITIE in 2002 as part of the start-up team for its Technology business, encapsulated in MITIE’s ‘Management Incentive Through Investment Equity’ model. He has a 20-year history of directing businesses, and delivering large and complex energy-intensive infrastructure on an international scale (EMEA, Asia Pacific, US), where risk management has been at the heart of the management ethos.

Mark regularly leads dialogue on energy reform and is a frequent contributor to government consultations and industry forums.
