Katherine Garrett-Cox was appointed Chief Executive of Alliance Trust PLC in September 2008, having joined the company in 2007 as Chief Investment Officer. 
 
Prior to joining Alliance Trust, she was Chief Investment Officer and Executive Director of Morley Fund Management, now Aviva Investors, where she was responsible for more than £160bn invested in equities, fixed income, private equity and alternatives.  Before that, Katherine was Chief Investment Officer and Executive Director of Aberdeen Asset Management PLC.  She began her career as a portfolio manager at Hill Samuel Asset Management, where she was Investment Director, Head of American Equities. 
 
Katherine is a member of the UK Society of Investment Professionals, CFA Institute and has worked in financial services for more than 23 years.  She is a Founder Member of the Advisory Council of The CityUK, a member of the UK Prime Minister's Business Advisory Group and is a member of the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Bank AG.   In October 2005 Katherine was nominated a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum.
