Ivo Mulder joined UNEP Finance Initiative in 2010 and leads the programme on ecosystem, water and biodiversity. He initiated and manages a number of innovative projects, such as the Natural Capital Declaration and the E-RISC project on sovereign bonds. He has also successfully set up the REDD+ and Sustainable Land Use Programme. Ivo has published extensively, including how environmental issues can be financially relevant for business.

Prior to this, he worked for consulting firms including KPMG and Triple E. He furthermore worked for the National Green Fund (Nationaal Groenfonds) in the Netherlands, a finance facility set up to provide debt to landowners and farmers to protect nature areas by leveraging both public and private capital. Earlier on he worked as a junior professional associate for IUCN in China and Switzerland and as a consultant for Forest Trends.

Ivo earned his BSc and MSc degrees in Environmental Sciences from Wageningen University, with specialisations in ecological and environmental economics.
