C3: Case studies

Planning cities around nature

Today, over 54% of the world’s population lives in urban areas, a proportion which will increase to 66% by 2050. Rapid urbanisation and urban sprawl are posing new social and environmental problems in cities, as planners and developers try to balance this growth with climate change and the environmental goals.

In this case studies session, pioneers and experts from around the world will present how natural capital assessments are increasingly informing planning and development decisions, and providing solutions to these problems.
